C-54 | Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Peripheral Vascular Disease Admissions: A Nationally Representative Sample

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death across globe. Healthcare disparities among minorities in cardiovascular disease have existed for years. Our study aimed to identify clinical outcomes and resource utilization associated with race ethnicity patients admitted peripheral vascular (PVD) United States. This is a retrospective hospital discharge data from Health Care Utilization Project-National Inpatient Sample (HCUP-NIS) database between October 2015 December 2019. We identified 622,820 patient discharges PVD-related, principal-admission diagnosis. Patients three major categories were compared terms baseline characteristics, inpatient outcomes, utilization. Black Hispanic more likely be younger lowest median income but incur higher total costs. predicted rates acute kidney injury, need blood transfusion, vasopressor, lower circulatory shock, mortality. less undergo limb salvaging procedures amputation than White patients. findings indicate that experience health PVD admissions.
